Current House
Southwood Lane, Cheltenham
The demolition of a redundant electricity substation made way for a interesting site, sandwiched between to office buildings.
The proposed dwelling (for a private client) was effectively single aspect, so natural light was of the utmost importance. The resulting design created a multifaceted facade with light entering the rear of the building through a large glazed, pitched roof.
The front wall gives privacy, whilst the steel mesh doors allow glimpses of the inner courtyard, thus avoiding a ‘gated feel’.
